Events Assistant Internship
In a events internship you will perform tasks under the supervision of the event planner in order to provide support. The latter is in charge of organizing various events: conferences, workshops, shows, weddings, exhibitions… Thus, an events assistant needs to be versatile. Missions are also diversified. Indeed, the intern follows the whole process along with his supervisor: from designing the event over the promotional activities until the day the Event takes place.
Tasks of an Events Assistant
Here are the main tasks that an intern in events can undertake:
- Supporting the events planner in designing events.
- Proposing new events ideas.
- Communicating about the event and promoting it (social media, emails…)
- Sending invitations to participants.
- Upstream preparation: transports, logistics, materials, accommodations…
- Collaborating with stakeholders.
- Welcoming participants during the event, on-site or outside of the company.
- Ensure the success of the event: animation, support, information…
- Follow-up and management of the budget granted.

Education
The events internship is available to students specialized in this particular field of study.
Thus, the best option is to follow studies leading to a Bachelor with a major in events management, events coordinator or events planning. Students in communication need at least an option in events to apply for this internship. They may come from business schools or universities.
Obviously, the further you are in your education, the more responsibilities you can have during your internship. For instance, going from an internship as an assistant to an internship where you could plan your own small events.
Skills and Qualities
If you want to get your events internship abroad, you must show specific qualities.
First, you learnt the ropes of communication. Indeed, organizing an event requires to master some of its aspects like writing promotional contents or managing partners. If you follow one of the disciplines mentioned above, you must have the abilities demanded.
Then, interpersonal skills and business sense must be part of your assets. The event coordinator interacts with different stakeholders to organize his event. For instance, we can mention transportation companies, caterer, interior designers, musicians… Even within the company, the intern collaborates with the sales, marketing or communication department. You must be able to create bonds with your interlocutors. Considering your business sense, it allows you to negotiate with your providers or to convince a targeted public to come to your event.
On the other hand, you must be rigorously organized. This position is highly versatile and includes a wide range of activities. It is important not to neglect a single detail so that the event is a success. You must be able to follow each step with method and focus.
Finally, you are creative. How to answer demands from a client or to reach the objective of a company? Which activity would strengthen bonds between employees of the company? Which place would be the best to organize a cocktail party? How to bring participants from one place to another? Many questions to which you will have to answer in order to fulfill your company’s or client’s requirements. Your creativity will help you to imagine relevant and original solutions to issues you will face.

Skills developed during an Events internship abroad
An overseas experience in events will help you improve on various fields.
First of all, you will learn to organize a wide range of events. Weddings, seminaries, exhibitions, charity events… It will depend on your company. Moreover, you will undertake many different missions as you will follow the process from the conception to the event itself. - Our events internships are available all year long. You can be in the end of your studies, in a gap year or in-between two academic years, we can find what you’re looking for!
- It is better to apply about 2 months before the start of your internship. The idea is to have as many internship options and destinations to your disposal as possible.
- Most of our events internships are available for 6 months. As tasks need a proper training, companies are looking for students for a longer period. Yet, it is sometimes possible to negotiate 5 months internships with some partners. Occasionally, we have this kind of internship for a duration of 3 to 6 months.
